A Mother’s Health, A Father’s Injury, A Family Holding On

Our small family has come to a painful crossroad, and with open hearts, we’re asking for help — something we never thought we’d need to do.

Miriam is a devoted stay-at-home mum who homeschools our beautiful 6-year-old daughter and runs a humble market stall from home. She is the heart of our home. But two months ago, everything changed.
Miriam found a lump in her breast. After several tests with the National Institute of Integrated Medicine and several scans, it was confirmed as breast cancer that has already spread to her lymph nodes.

While Miriam is staying positive and hopeful, her nervous system has been in constant survival mode. She has a long and traumatic history with the medical system. As a child, she endured difficult and experimental hospital treatments — on two occasions it involved her right eye and lips being sewn shut, leading to near suffocation when she became sick after the anesthetic. She was just 9 years old.
The diagnosed PTSD from this (and our families strong believe in natural health) has made it near impossible for her to accept conventional treatment like chemotherapy or radiation, which re traumatizes her body and mind. Even setting foot in a hospital triggers a severe trauma response. This is one of the reason why, Miriam has been pursuing natural and integrative therapies — including high-dose Vitamin C's, Chinese herbs, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy, meditation, emotional, trauma and PTSD support and lots of consultations with integrative doctors, breast surgeons and integrative oncologists.

The integrative/natural treatments are not covered by insurance/medicare and most will require her to travel over 12 hours every week. We are well in to using our savings now. While some western medical interventions are in progression, her long-term healing will come from an integrated/natural healing aspect.

In the midst of this, tragedy struck again. Andrew — an incredibly hard-working husband, father, and our family’s sole income earner as a carpenter (self employed)— suffered a horrific workplace injury.
A circular saw went through his leading hand, severing his index finger and badly injuring two others.

Surgeons aren’t sure if he’ll ever return to carpentry or have the full use of his hand again.

Recovery is slow, and insurance barely covers essentials not alone any treatments for Miriam.

This also means we can't get any loans to help pay the alternative healing route.

Our family has no income — and we are just keeping our heads above water.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Miriam has found hope in a place that could truly change her life: HOPE for Cancer Clinic in Mexico — a facility that specializes in non-toxic, integrative cancer treatments. It is listed in some places as the second best alternative cancer clinic in the world, they use some of the modalities that are well know in Europe but not available here in AU.

She has personally spoken to multiple people who went there with similar diagnoses and came home with big improvements and on the way to healing and thriving with a 12 months home program in place. While some western medicine options are possibly needed, Mexico is the only treatment path she feels safe, supported, and aligned with for the long term care. (There is also a similar clinic in Thailand that Miriam is considering).

But non of the integrated treatment are cheap, Mexico costs $77000 +.

We currently have nearly enough to send Miriam to Mexico — but funs are going fast and doing so would leave us completely vulnerable, with no backup, no safety net, and no idea how we would recover financially with no income right now. Miriam will start work as soon as her healing allows it. We don't own a house and have already sold a car to support treatments.

It would take every cent out of our savings, and with no income this is terrifying — especially with Andrew unable to work and our daughter needing both of her parents. We don't want that all this also takes a toll on her.

We are facing a heartbreaking decision: Do we send Miriam to Mexico (or Thailand) and risk total financial collapse?

Or do we stay afloat, while the cancer progresses? And the latest scans show that an intervention is needed NOW.

A Bigger Dream: Hope for Others, Too

If we could raise enough, we wouldn’t just send Miriam to Mexico (or Thailand) — we would also invest in a home-based wellness setup with a hyperbaric chamber and red light therapy to continue Miriam’s recovery and create a small but local well being space for others. This can offer added support to people undergoing traditional or integrated treatments. The cost of a hyperbaric chamber that has the capacities needed is $45'000

An added long term goal is to pay a local nurse to do IV injection training, so that Miriam and other locals in need don’t have to drive 6 hours to get Vit.C injections. This treatments has so much science behind it when it gets to a healing journey. Estimated cost for this training is around $6000.

It is our hope that our misfortune will ultimately help a lot of people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to these beneficial treatments here in the region.

Please, with the home setup, we do not claim this will cure cancer but there is enough science to show how it can support the healing together with other treatments.

This would: Provide Andrew with meaningful work he can physically do.

Allow Miriam ongoing access to treatments after Mexico and while accepting some western medicine support as well.

Help others in our remote, rural community who don’t have access to natural care that can benefit the outcome even if you undergo Chemo or radiation.

Create a small, sustainable income stream for our family

How You Can Help

We’re humbly asking for donations to help us:

Send Miriam to the HOPE Clinic in Mexico or Thailand.

Support our family’s basic needs while Andrew heals

Set up a small, natural wellness space to care for Miriam and others

If you feel called to donate, we are beyond grateful. And if you would ever like to experience the treatments we set up in the future, please let us know — your donation can be reimbursed through treatment sessions.

This is the most vulnerable thing we’ve ever had to do. We’re used to being the ones who give — not ask. But right now, we can’t do this alone.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping us hold on to hope.

With love and deep gratitude, Miriam, Andrew & our little girl ❤️
