A Mother’s Fight for Life and Shaun’s Security

Donation protected
I am a single mother to my four-year-old son, Shaun, and I am facing a series of life-altering medical challenges. After surviving a nearly fatal car accident, I suffered a severe brain injury that has led to ongoing cardiac issues, global seizures, and the loss of my independence. My immune disorder complicates everything, and my specialist has had to stop vital treatments due to the risks involved. I’ve already undergone surgery, including rotator cuff repair, and I am preparing for multiple-level back surgery, which has been put off multiple times due to cardiac issues. My days are unpredictable—sometimes I need to sleep up to 18 hours, and I am unable to work, relying only on a small disability stipend. The medical bills keep piling up, and I need ongoing care, including in-home visits from a CNA to monitor my health and help with daily tasks.

Caring for Shaun has become increasingly difficult. Some days, my brain simply “turns off,” leaving me unable to do the things I used to do with him. I need help with childcare, meal preparation, and even basic activities like bathing. I am not allowed to swim alone anymore, despite being a retired international swimmer, because of the risk of seizures. My support system here in Florida is limited, with only my mother and father able to help with Shaun once/twice a week. Most of my emotional support comes from friends in New Jersey and my Facebook community, who have been there for me through messages and calls. Sharing this fundraiser on Facebook is important to me, as it’s where I find encouragement and hope.

Even with all these difficulties, I refuse to give up. I am fighting for my life and for my son, and every bit of support makes this battle easier. I am eternally grateful and humbled by any help—whether it’s prayers, kind words, or financial support. Your generosity will be a lifesaver for both me and Shaun. I will not lose hope, even on the hardest days, and I will always hold my supporters in my heart and prayers. This is truly a fight for my life, and for Shaun’s mommy. Thank you to everyone who stands with us.
