A Mother's Fight: Cureena vs. Leukemia
Donation protected
My name is Cureena “Thelma” Dowden, born November 21st, 1975 in St. George’s, Grenada, West Indies where i currently reside. I am 49 years old. I’m a mother of 5 beautiful children. My youngest son, who is 9 years old, is diagnosed with autism, and he is totally dependent on me every step of the way. As a parent, the thought of not being around or able to take care of your kids is a parent's worst nightmare. In February 2025, my life changed drastically when I was diagnosed with leukemia. Upon diagnosis, doctors noticed that my white blood cell count was extremely high, and aggressive chemotherapy is needed urgently in order to slow the rate of cancer spreading.
Since becoming sick, I’ve been very weak and unable to do my normal everyday tasks like going to work or even being able to take care of myself or my youngest son. Currently, I am receiving treatment at a local clinic run by Dr. Diaz located in St. Paul’s, Grenada, and the rest of my medical team is located in Grenada General Hospital under Dr. Gracias. Trying to find affordable healthcare is very hard without insurance and a steady income. I’m going through a financial hardship at this time due to being out of work and can’t afford medical expenses, which cost 2000 EC dollars a month for chemotherapy, blood work, and medications. I am kindly asking for donations to assist with the treatment cost and healthcare. Thank you for your donations and for taking the time to read my story. God bless ❤️ #fighter #beatcancer
