This is very hard to write and it will come as a big shock. Melissa has been reluctant to share about this, but as her friend of 40 years, I have decided to take the reins.

Our dearest friend is a vibrant and loving single mother to her incredible 13-year-old daughter, Lola. Melissa is now facing an unimaginable battle. After 40 years of friendship, sharing laughter, tears, and every life milestone in between, it breaks my heart to share that Melissa was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Initially, the news about the inoperable nature of the cancer was devastating, turning our world, and especially Melissa and her daughter's, upside down. While the cancer is extremely aggressive and challenging, Melissa is determined to fight, and we are rallying to support her every step of the way!

Melissa has always been the picture of strength and resilience. For years, she's dedicated her life to raising her daughter, working tirelessly to provide her with every opportunity and showering her with boundless love. Their bond is truly something special – a testament to Melissa's unwavering devotion as a mother.

Now, our beautiful Melissa is facing the fight of her life, and our deepest wish is to ensure she has every possible resource to battle this disease, focusing on treatment, healing, and being there for her daughter.

Update: New Milestones & New Challenges in Melissa’s Fight

I am writing to share an update on our dear friend Melissa. First, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated and shared this page so far. Because of your incredible generosity, we have raised nearly $5,000 to support Melissa and her daughter.

The Good News: Melissa is Healing

Melissa has been showing incredible resilience. She is working hard on her recovery every single day, and we are seeing beautiful signs of her progress. Her spirit remains as vibrant, and she is more determined than ever to beat this.

The Current Challenge: Moving Care to San Francisco

As Melissa’s journey progresses, her medical team has decided to move her treatment to specialized facilities in San Francisco. While this is a positive step toward getting her the most advanced care possible, it brings a new set of urgent hurdles:

Transportation Hurdles: Melissa’s current car is unreliable, making the long trips to San Francisco for treatment a major source of anxiety. We need to ensure she has a safe, dependable way to get to these life-saving appointments.

We are looking to significantly increase our fundraising goal to meet these new demands. Our priority is to wrap Melissa in a blanket of security so she can focus 100% on her health, rather than her bank account or her car's steering going out.
