On August 15, 2025, our family experienced a heartbreaking tragedy. My sister, Hiojaira Velez Bonilla — lovingly known as Joy — was taken from us in a senseless act of violence. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was stolen far too soon.

She leaves behind her two teenage sons, just 17 and 16 years old, who are now facing the unimaginable reality of life without their mom. She was their rock, their safe place, and their biggest supporter. While they try to process this devastating loss, our family is stepping in to ensure they are cared for and supported.

We are asking for your support with the following needs:

• Funeral and memorial expenses to lay my sister to rest with dignity

• Immediate support for her two sons as they adjust to life after this tragedy

• Counseling and resources to help them through their grief and healing

Our goal is to raise $70,000 to cover these expenses and provide stability for her boys during this painful time.
