A Mom's Second Chance

First, I want to say Thank You for taking the time to read our story.
Tuesday night, our world's got turned upside-down. My dad had to call 911 because his wife, our mother, went unresponsive. Her heart stopped. They prepared my dad for that night to be her last and allowed him one hour in the hospital with her. With his heart shattered, he now had to make the call to all the children to let us know what happened.
Tuesday night came and went and mom was holding on while on life support. By Wednesday morning, not too much had changed.... It was devastating to say in the least.
My dad just bought my mom her dream house and she has never been so happy as she was now. They just moved in, boxes everywhere, but there was pure happiness and love that surrounded their new home. My dad has spent every chance he has to work on their home to make it theirs.
Wednesday afternoon, I called the nurse to get an update. The update was so overwhelming I cried happy tears. She told me her morning report for my mom was not promising, but by the afternoon, my mom was fully breathing on her own and following simple commands. This was so rewarding to hear.
Thursday afternoon, she had a defibrillator put in so we won't experience this again. Surgery went well and afterwards, mom was talking!! Still confused, and really concerned about my dad not eating dinner since she wasn't there to cook for him (that made my dad cry! True love )
Today, my dad got to talk to her for the first time. It was super sweet and sad at the same time, but with everything mom has been through, it's hard to know what to expect.
Mom was talking in the past tense, such as bringing up her dogs from years ago, which is something sad to witness. But, we are all staying positive and optimistic that once she is out of ICU, she will come back to the present.
I am not one to ever ask for things, especially money, but I know with all the medical bills and doctor visits, it is going to add a huge weight on my dad to carry with already having to be prepared and equipped for my mom to come home and care for her. She has no insurance. All visits will be out of pocket. If I could take even a tiny bit of the burden off my dad, I will try.
I appreciate any and all of your support. Those of you that know my mom, know she is such a loving and amazing woman and we can't wait for her to be healthy enough to come home so we can care for her back to health.
