A Mom and a Daughter: The story of Xiomara and Adriana

Hi, my name is Ivette. This GoFundMe was started to help out my cousin's daughter as she has been through so much lately. Here is the backstory:

Just over 2 weeks ago, my cousin, Xiomara (a single mother), started with a lot of exhaustion but didn't think much about it. Once the swelling began, she visited a family doctor who said she needed to go to the hospital immediately.

(Hace un poco más de dos semana, mi prima, Xiomara (una madre soltera), comenzó con mucho cansancio y no pensó mucho acerca de ello. Cuando comenzó a inflamarse, visitó al médico de la Familia y la envió al hospital de inmediato.)

Due to the way the health system works in El Salvador, she was taken to the public hospital. After over 24 hours there, her daughter, Adriana, was told they couldn't check her in because they had lost her paperwork. So, Adriana decided to move her to a private hospital, which can be expensive.

(Debido a como funciona el sistema de salud en El Salvador, ella fue llevada al hospital público. Después de más de 24 horas ahí, su hija Adriana, recibió la noticia que no la podían internar debido a un problema con los papeles. Entonces Adriana decidió moverla a un hospital privado, lo cual puede ser costoso.)

Once at the private hospital, Xiomara was cared for and given medications. She was diagnosed with Cardiac Deficiency. They found she had fluid buildup all over her body along with an infection in her abdomen. After two weeks, she was discharged and we were all excited that she was home with her daughter. Of course, she had to continue the medication and use oxygen while at home, but it was progress.

(Estando en el hospital privado, Xiomara fue cuidada y dada los medicamento necesarios. Ella fue diagnosticada con deficiencia cardiaca. Encontraron que tenía liquido en varios lugares del cuerpo y una infección en el abdomen. Después de dos semanas, ella fue dada de alta y todos estabamos felices que ella ya estaba en casa con su hija. Claro, ella tenía que continuar con medicamentos y oxígeno en casa, pero había mejoría.)

The next day (2/9), she was once taken to the hospital, this time to a different hospital due to the seriousness of her condition. She was given additional medication and placed on a respirator. Unfortunately, she slipped into the Lord's presence on Monday, 2/10.

(El siguiente día, 9/2, ella fue llevada al hospital nuevamente, esta vez fue un hospital diferente debido a la gravedad de su condició. Ella fue dada un medicamento adicional y puesta en un respirador. Desafortunadamente, ella pasó a la presencia del Señor el lunes, 10 de febrero.)

Her daughter, Adriana, has now been left with a debt to pay at the hospital along with funeral expenses which she was not expecting. This has been hard on her, and the family, especially as she is currently finishing school while working.

This GoFundMe is to help her with all of the expenses that she has now had to encounter due to her mom's health/medical and funeral costs.
