A mobility scooter for my Dad, Randall Booker
Donation protected
I am fundraising for my father, Randall Booker, to be able to purchase a mobility scooter.
My father was very suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma in February. This was a complete shock to my family.
Since his diagnosis, my dad has lost a lot of his mobility. Between the fight against cancer itself, the weakening of his body caused by chemo, and arthritis, walking causes him an immense amount of pain. At times, standing itself causes him to become dizzy and collapse. Through all this, my dad is keeping high spirits and staying strong.
My dad is a vibrant person. If you know him, you know just how full of energy and life he is. My dad makes friends everywhere he goes- he just can't help it.
My mother and I are doing everything we can to support my father and advocate for him, and part of that is to make sure that he can continue to live and enjoy his life.
A mobility scooter would allow him his agency, and his freedom to move throughout the world without worry of pain and even worse, collapsing in the street. This would also allow him to carry his oxygen with him hands-free (my father is on 24/7 oxygen).
The scooter that we have in mind, or one similar to it, can be found in the link below. The difference in cost of the scooter and our ask amount is to cover the amount paid to Gofundme and any extra expenses (taxes, shipping etc.) on the scooter.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for anything that you might be able to give.
