Originally Facebook Post from Monique:
On Saturday April 13, we were coming home from a wonderful, week-long vacation we had taken. We had a layover in Baltimore and Tyeena passed out as she stepped off the plane. She was taken to Saint Agnes Hospital where she coded in the ambulance. The paramedic immediately started chest compressions. We arrived at the hospital and the compressions continued. They worked on my baby for 3 hours or more trying to find a pulse and keep it. They were finally successful with keeping a pulse and was then able to run the tests that were needed. Long story short, there is significant damage to the back and sides of her brain due to the fact that she went so long without a pulse. It is believed that the longest she went without a pulse is 19 minutes. There is lots of damage internally due to the 3+ hours of compressions. There was lots of internal bleeding, the doctors were finally able to get under control after several days. She has had surgery and within the next day or 2, they will remove her from all meds (not pain needs). This is her opportunity to show the neurologist if she can respond on her own to commands. We have been told that the Tyeena who is only 21, we know and love will not be coming home. If she does, she will have to go to a facility for the rest of her life. I KNOW GOD IS ABLE AND WE NEED A MIRACLE REALLY QUICKLY!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR OUR BABY!!!!!
SHE IS A FIGHTER AND SHE IS FIGHTING!!!! We know that prayer changes things and we solicit your prayers for Tyeena and the entire family.
Update 04/24/24-
Tyeena is still in ICU at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.
Tyeena was somewhat responsive last week but hasn't been responsive for the past 4-5 days although she did open her eyes for a few minutes yesterday. We are still hopeful and still praying for a miracle.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR OUR BABY!!!!!
SHE IS A FIGHTER AND WE KNOW SHE IS FIGHTING!!!!
Update 04/29/24
Tyeena has been moved to the IMCU department at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.
The only update we have is that she has pneumonia but is still unresponsive. However, she does smile from time to time.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR OUR BABY!!!!!
SHE IS A FIGHTER AND WE KNOW SHE IS FIGHTING!!!!
Update 05/01/24-
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY!!!!!
As transparent as we have been throughout this journey, we are asking friends and family to continue to pray for Tyeena. At this time we ask that to be your focus until we can provide further updates.
We have become overwhelmed with the amount of love and support from everyone in our village. We have received a huge influx of messages and calls pertaining to Tyeena’s current state. We ask that at this time you refrain from asking any further questions until we get a better understanding of what is going on.
Again thank you so much for the continued love and support. We aren’t out of the woods just yet, but there is still hope for a miracle.
Monique, Tyrone, and Sequoia's lives have all been severely altered, as they have not been able to work and since they live in Norfolk and are now being relocated the Baltimore while Tyeena is there, they could really use our help. If you would search your heart and donate to this family. This is FAMILY and we are #SAUNDERSSTRONG but today I urge you to be #TYEENASTRONG. We have received questions about donating which is the purpose of this campaign.

Hello Family,
For continued transparency, Tyeena will be relocated to a Palliative care/ Hospice facility later this week. After she is settled, we will continue to stay by her side as she transitions over; she will go peacefully and surrounded with love. We ask that you continue to keep our family in your prayers at this difficult time.
**Please continue to donate as it will be needed in the coming days.***
