A miracle for Taicha

Marie Paule (Johanne) is celebrating her birthday. Her wish this year is to raise funds to give Taicha the miracle her and her family have been wishing for.

Taicha was born in April 2021 in Milot, Haiti, without an anus. Two days after her birth, a life-saving procedure was done to evacuate the stool from her bowel. Almost three years later, after recovering from several infections due to her exposed bowels, this little fighter and her family are hoping for a miracle to happen... a pediatric colorectal surgeon and a urologist to reconstruct her bowel and urinary tract.

Marie examined Taicha when she went to Haiti in June 2023. As a Board Certified Pediatrician with strong professional ties with the Northwell Health System , Dr. Dupiton discussed Taicha's condition and shared pictures with the wonderful pediatric surgical team at Cohens Children, who agreed to care for Taicha at no cost. This strong little girl is in need of yet another life-saving procedure to create an anus and reinsert her exposed bowel. This surgery is very complex, involving multiple sub-specialty surgeons (colorectal, urologist) and postoperative care. Taicha will not be able to obtain the degree of expert care that she needs for a successful surgery and full recovery, in Haiti.

While this is great news that her case was accepted, the challenge now is to bring Taicha to the States for this much needed, life-saving and life-changing procedure, which will be performed in several stages.

After 6 months of frustration due to the instability in Haiti, Taicha and her mom finally have their passports. The cost for travel to and from New York for her appointments will be costly and a potential barrier to this great opportunity. We need your help to continue the process of bringing Taicha and her mom back and forth to the States for the procedures and follow up, until her full recovery. This go fund me will cover the cost of Taicha’s multiple trips needed to travel to the States to receive the surgery and care that will allow her to live a normal life.
