A Miracle for Muriel
Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, on February 20th, our world was turned upside down when our dear parents Sam and Muriel McGuire were
involved in a head on collision near Grimshaw, Alberta.
A truck in the incoming lane lost control and collided with their vehicle, the impact resulting in Sam's back being broken and our Mom being sent by STARS ambulance to the
Royal Alex hospital with what felt like far too many life threatening injuries for one person
to endure.
While we waited to hear how she was, all we
knew was that she was in with the trauma
team and they were working on her. We were told due to the trauma they could not give us a percent chance of survival.
When the call from the doctor finally came,
they had said they had worked on her and now 'there was nothing more they could do'.
Friends, we have never prayed so hard in our
lives until that moment.
We needed a Miracle for Muriel!
It felt like the instant we said "AMEN", the
phone rang and the doctors told us that our
mom had woken up and tried to speak with
them.
It was because of this miracle and Muriel’s
communication with the doctors that she was sent into 4 major surgeries in just as many
days in an attempt to save her life. We sat by
the phone, both heart broken and hopeful, in
anticipation of any good news.
Anyone who knows our mom knows that she
is a warrior and we thank God she was strong enough to fight for her life.
She is in critical condition in the ICU and each day we pray for more Miracles for Muriel!
While we wait for her to wake and as she
continues to fight each day, our prayers go out to the family of the girl in the other vehicle
who was killed in the accident. Our hearts
break for her & her family.
---------
We would like to thank every person that has
reached out since our parent's accident to ask "what can we do?" Like you, we feel helpless
and just want to know things will be ok.
The support from our community has been
overwhelming in the best kind of way.
We have had meals dropped off, flowers
delivered, phone calls and text messages
checking in. For all of this, we truly can't
express the depth of our gratitude.
Our dear mom is still in critical condition in
the ICU and for now our family feels loved
& supported through gifts and prayer. We
can't thank everyone enough for all of this.
Our thoughts are now turning to the future
and our focus is now on supporting our mom
and Sam through the months and potentially
years of rehab and recovery they now face.
We know it will be a long, hard road.
We sadly cannot bear all of the burdens they will face on this journey but we would like to
help alleviate some of the financial stress
related, so that they can focus on what
matters most:
Total Healing, Restoration and getting back
on to their families.
--------
Funds raised will be put towards:
Specialist appointments
Fuel costs
Meals
Parking
Accommodations
And many other unforseen costs
--------
Please do not feel obligated to give and know
that no amount is too small. If a well-wish or a prayer is what you feel called to send, please
know that we appreciate this more than
words can say. Giving blood at your local blood bank, donations to Stars ambulance and the
Royal Alex in moms name would also be
amazing, as to them we are forever grateful.
From the bottom of our hearts,
thank-you and please continue to pray for
#miraclesformuriel!❤️
