A Miracle for Brian Lee Durfee
Donation protected
In the very early hours on Friday, March 22, 2024, Brian Lee Durfee called 911 in the most excruciating pain. He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis.
On Saturday, March 23rd the medical staff worked tirelessly to try to keep his blood pressure stable as it continued to fall, as well as manage his intense pain. He was intubated and put on a ventilator, and started on dialysis to attempt to preserve his kidney function.
Brian was taken into surgery first thing Sunday morning, March 24th to assess the internal damage. His pancreas took the biggest hit, but there was immense pressure on his lungs and loss of blood flow to his intestines. The internal damage and kidney failure looked so discouraging, that we were given the devastating news that he would likely not make it through the night and only had a day or two to live.
As family, friends and loved ones united in fast and prayer we have seen miracle after miracle. On Monday, March 25th, the surgeon took him back in and was astounded at the complete reversal he had made. His intestines had blood flow, his blood pressure was almost normal, and by afternoon they were able to turn off the ventilator and he was able to breathe on his own. Tuesday morning, March 26th, they removed the breathing tube. It was such huge blessing to hear his voice again. His number one goal right now is to get to a place that he is allowed to have a cherry slushy ;)
And finally, today, Wednesday, March 27th! Thanks be to our Father in Heaven for his mercy and answered prayers; the miracles continue. Brian went back in for surgery and they finally closed him up. His kidney function is restored and he can possibly discontinue dialysis. We are also hopeful he will retain some use of his pancreas.
Our family is indebted to the countless people that have offered prayers and well wishes in Brian’s behalf. His medical bills will be astronomical as he will endure months and months of recovery and rehab. Any amount is appreciated, and if you are not able to help monetarily, we welcome your thoughts and prayers.
