A Memorial of Life....An Untimely Death

Our dear friend and colleague Edgardo “Edgar” García-O’neill passed away last Friday, May 29, 2020 in Dallas, Texas as a result of his cancer condition.
I am writing this message for several reasons, with the assistance of friends and colleagues of Edgar, and I hope the reasons aren’t considered trite or pretentious. First, Sometimes life ends quickly, despite all attempts to stave off disease and do what’s right; Second, I feel it is necessary because the world needs to know that a special person is no longer here to do his part is making the earth a better place; Third, This man was the breadwinner for the family, and only source of income; quite abruptly, that has permanently changed.
I’d like to spare you the usual clichés about a dear friend or awesome co-worker or overall amazing human being, albeit Mr. Edgar Garcia-Oneill was all of those and more. Edgar worked for GP Strategies Corporation for several years, and was instrumental in setting up a systematic program and an administrative team on the Island of Puerto Rico which would ultimately help to obligate millions of dollars in Federal Grant funding and implement projects that protect life and property from future disasters, but more importantly would help the residents (families and individuals), businesses, and municipalities recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma and Maria. Without Edgar’s tireless efforts and love for the residents of the Island, this lofty goal of setting up a permanent office on the Island to assist local governments, jurisdictions, and residents would not have come to fruition. In Puerto Rico, Edgar work many years in telecommunication and education industries. By mid 2000s, Edgar formed his own company, Konet, that served as platform for many talents in the industry.
This GoFundMe account is being established in honor of a man who loved his family dearly, who worked tirelessly for the residents and several Municipalities on the island of Puerto Rico until the last week before his death, a man who never succumbed to the notion that he couldn’t beat this terrible disease, who was extremely fond of his counterparts, who was a true giver, a man who was dedicated to the God he served, and who appreciated and valued life.
He is survived by his wife Veronica and his daughter Zuled.
The funds will be delivered to Edgar’s wife to help them cover funeral expenses and to provide a family support for the upcoming weeks.
