Hello!

My name is Lucas and I am an Eagle Scout candidate and Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 97 in Oakland California. One of the requirements to complete the Eagle Scout Rank is to lead a service project that benefits my community. Troop 97 is a community oriented local troop that meets at Melrose Leadership Academy in Oakland, CA.

As a part of my Eagle Scout Service Project I am working to support the creation of a memorial garden and plaque honoring the life Mr. George Carminer, longtime and beloved custodian at the MLA - Sherman School Site. He was: “a warm smile in the hallway, a helping hand when it was needed, and a quiet strength that anchored our school community.”

I am raising funds to plant a garden and install a plaque to memorialize Mr. George. Donations will support the purchase of soil, plants, materials, and a plaque. Scouts and school community members will collaborate during a work day in April to plant the garden and install the plaque. Any funds collected in excess of project costs will be donated to Melrose Leadership Academy.
