My name is Shayna Jason, and my family is experiencing an unimaginable loss. On December 11th, my sister, Shaniya Thompson, was tragically and senselessly taken from us after being shot by her children’s father. He came into her home bearing gifts for my young nieces birthday. All the while planning to shoot and kill my sister, while my nieces and nephews were there they heard gun shots and a scream. He is at large running from police and we demand answers! If anyone knows of his whereabouts his name is Wesley Koboi, if you know anything, see or hear anything please contact Minnesota police immediately! Our hearts are completely shattered.
Shaniya was more than a sister—she was a devoted mother of five beautiful children whose lives have been forever changed. These children witnessed the unthinkable, and now they are left not only grieving their mother but also facing trauma that no child should ever endure. They will need counseling, care, and support as they try to heal. With Christmas so close, we are heartbroken knowing they may go without during what should be a time of love and comfort.
Our family is overwhelmed with grief and the sudden burden of laying our sister to rest. We are asking for help with memorial and funeral expenses, as well as support for her children as they navigate this painful new reality.
If you are able to give—whether through donations, prayers, sharing our story, or words of encouragement—we would be deeply grateful. Every act of kindness means more than we can put into words during this devastating time.
Thank you for your love, support, and compassion.
