ynda Prewitt was my dear friend of 23 years, and someone who dedicated her life to serving others. When I first met Lynda, she was working as the home meal delivery manager at the Senior Center in Azusa, as well as for the SGV Tribune in circulation and delivery. Lynda took her job at the Senior Center to heart, always making sure that any senior on her route who would be alone on a holiday had company and a hot meal. She often purchased meals out of her own pocket and brought a small gift to those seniors who were alone on holidays. She knew what it was like to be alone, having lost her husband and her four sons, who all preceded her in death. For over 23 years, she served the community, but in many ways, the community was also serving her as she faced life’s challenges alone.

After the heartbreaking loss of her sons, Lynda was left with no family to care for her. That’s why I became her power of attorney and closest support. Lynda retired during the pandemic and soon began to show signs of cognitive decline. She asked me to help make decisions for her when she could no longer do so herself. I did everything I could to keep her at home, but as her needs grew, the difficult decision was made to move her to assisted living. Like many seniors, the cost of care was overwhelming, and she lived paycheck to paycheck to cover her expenses. This past year, her health declined further, and she was placed in hospice care. This last weekend, Just days after her 82nd birthday, Lynda peacefully passed away, finally reunited with her beloved boys.

Since her account was already overdrawn, and no insurance funding available for her passing, I'm hoping that others will see the significant need and donate to this GoFundMe page. Help me honor Lynda in a way that basic memorial costs can be covered. Thank you.
