A Medical Clinic Built on Hope is now at Risk of Collapse

My name is Fawaz, and I’m the founder of Telge Ortopedi, a medical clinic in a small town, Sweden. This is not just a business – it’s a mission. A dream that grew from pain, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves care, no matter their language, background, or condition.

When the financial crisis deepened, we tried everything to save the clinic. We sold our personal belongings, invested every last krona we had, and gave up our own security – but it wasn’t enough. Now, we are on the edge of losing everything.

We opened in January 2019 to serve a population where 60–80% are immigrants – many who don’t speak the language, don’t know their rights, and suffer from rare or neglected conditions that Western healthcare systems often overlook.

Our clinic specializes in orthopedic care for patients with unique and severe conditions, including:

• Post-polio syndrome (childhood paralysis)

• Neglected hip dislocations

• Untreated or poorly treated clubfoot

• Complex trauma and congenital conditions

In our first two years, Telge Ortopedi thrived. We gained trust, delivered outstanding results, and received glowing feedback from patients and the regional healthcare authority. But then the pandemic hit.

At the same time, new government requirements forced our clinic to hire multiple specialists and perform over 1,800 surgeries per year – a scale that was simply unsustainable for a small private clinic. We pivoted to a different kind of care model, which was approved by the region, but it required major investments. It also took time before the new model could become financially stable.

The result: our cash flow collapsed. Debts mounted. And today, despite fighting for years, we’re on the edge of bankruptcy.

I am not asking for luxury, profit, or comfort. I am asking for survival – for a second chance to continue serving people who would otherwise fall through the cracks of the healthcare system. We are in a state of emergency. After years of sweat, sacrifice, and love, everything we’ve built is about to disappear.
