As many of you know, Peter Roberts (Robbo) is about to celebrate two incredible milestones — his 60th birthday and 43 years of dedicated service in policing.

Like many of us, we’ve been asking the same question:
What do you give someone who has spent a lifetime giving to others?

Rather than gifts, we thought a collective contribution toward something truly meaningful would be the most fitting way to honour Peter — by helping fund a PTSD Assistance Dog that will go on to change lives.

We are inviting friends, family, colleagues, and anyone whose life Peter has touched to donate as little as $10 toward this cause. All funds raised will be gifted to Peter, who will then pass the full amount on to Life Unleashed, a veteran-founded, not-for-profit organisation that provides specially trained PTSD assistance dogs to veterans and first responders.

Each PTSD assistance dog costs between $40,000 and $60,000 to breed, train, and place. While veterans receive full government funding through DVA, first responders receive no government funding at all for PTSD dogs — despite the enormous mental health toll their service can take.

To show our commitment, we have already contributed $6,000 to this cause.

Life Unleashed supports veterans and first responders living with PTSD and related mental health challenges. Around 8.3% of Australian Defence Force members experience PTSD each year, and approximately 30% of first responders develop conditions such as PTSD or depression. Their assistance dogs provide constant support, improve independence, reduce anxiety, and make a truly life-changing difference — not only for individuals, but for their families as well.

This fundraiser is about more than a birthday or a retirement milestone.
It’s about honouring a lifetime of service by helping those who continue to serve — and struggle — every day.

If you were unsure what to give Peter, this is a gift that will keep giving.
