My name is Richard Cheatwood, but best known as Officer Cheatwood of the Vestavia Hills Police Department. I have lived in Vestavia Hills since November 2005 and worked for the Vestavia Hills Police Department for 19 years. Prior to my time with the Vestavia Hills Police Department, I worked for the City of Bessemer Police Department for 3 years.

After working and living in Vestavia Hills, I noticed that the citizens are severely over taxed. The citizens are paying their hard-earned money for politicians to spend it on impractical agendas. The people worked hard for their money, and when they give it to the government, they are entitled to expect efficiency. I will work hard to make sure that the citizens get what they want for the community. They should have more of a say in what they want the city to do with their tax dollars. I will be a mayor for the people.
