A Veteran’s Quest: Expedition in Morocco

Rachelle Steele is a Disabled Veteran and Award Winning Master Photographer. She began this project as a personal journey after completing her Masters of Photography.  For her, it was time to open her heart and find the healing she desires from her military career and now with her knowledge and experience can undertake. Scent of Morocco is an award-winning international project set in the beautiful and exotic Kingdom of Morocco. This black and white collection is a compilation of fine art environmental portaiture, landscape, still life, and abstract images. The goal of this project is to create an in depth photography book that will share the wonders and culutural stunningness of Morocco. It is important to Rachelle to give back to society and contribute through the arts so that others might have beauty in their lives. As a veteran, the most important thing to her is to use photography as a tool to fight PTSD and regain the aspects of herself that this disease has affected. Through her lens she has the ability and talent to bring visual richness and emotion like very few are able. Rachelle started this project as part of her artist residency with Green Olive Arts in Tetouan Morocco shortly after earning her Masters in Photography in 2021. It was there that she created and exhibited the body of work shown in the video below. In our current state of unrest throughout the world, this project aims to bring beauty, hope, sensitivity, and art to all viewers that they might find inspiration within their own lives. There is much to learn and share from the incredible people of Morocco. Rachelle self funds all of her artistic endeavors and continues to earn awards and recognition around the globe on her own merit. This project has been the recipient of a portaiture award from the prestogious Lucie Foundation for "Falconer Shawki Wataha with Diablo and Paco".

Genrous Donators of $100 and over will receive 1 print from the Scent of Morocco project printed in Tetoaun, Morocco before returning to the United States.
