A Martyr of Humanity - Innocent Student Killed

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
To him we belong, and to Him is our return.
His name was Muhammad Roman Sajid. Roman was my cousin, from the same village in Azad Kashmir where we both grew up in. He was killed during his participation in a peaceful Dharna (encampment/protest) in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. He was murdered for speaking up against a genocide. It is a great honor to continue this fight for Roman across the world & to keep pursuing justice as a fellow organizer & editor.
A dedicated student of UsulUddin at Islamic International University & very active member of various communities, he had joined the Save Gaza Campaign as a video editor & an organizer where he was now volunteering day & night at the D-Chowk Dharna (Protests) for Palestine. Throughout his life, he always gave back in any way he could & always fought for justice.
Community members recall Roman serving them dinner just 2 nights ago with his usual kind smile. At around 3 AM on May 19th, a black car rammed into a few sit-in protestors gathering around to sleep at the Dharna & Roman came in its direct path where he was martyred along with another brother. Multiple people were injured. Dozens of police officers looked on with their hands in their pockets. They made no attempt to help despite people begging them to intervene & even turned off all the street lights prior to the attack. It had since been said that this was premeditated & the community is working tirelessly to seek justice & to find the truth where the government had failed us once again.
Thousands joined in the 2 Janazah (funeral) prayers for Roman & many more are now fighting to seek justice for him. We kindly ask you all to share this message of humanity & ask anyone who can to donate to support the family of Roman in these difficult times. All funds raised will be sent directly to his family to alleviate burdens during this difficult time. Help us honor Roman & the 35,000+ killed in the occupied lands of Palestine by continuing the fight & supporting each other.
