Nehal, and her son, Eiad, are the founders of Salsabeel. Several years ago, Eiad introduced Nehal to running to support her health and wellbeing. Since then, they’ve completed multiple 5Ks, 10Ks, and a half-marathon together.

Now, they are preparing for their biggest challenge yet: running the full 42 km Kelowna Apple Marathon on September 28, 2025, together. This will be Nehal’s very first marathon, at the age of 66.

They are raising funds to support families facing food insecurity in Siwa, Egypt, one of the country’s most disadvantaged and remote communities. Nehal has volunteered for years at the Abbotsford Food Bank in BC, where she met Kyoka, a member of our charity’s board. Inspired by this connection and her experiences, we recently launched a Mobile Food Bank in Siwa. Currently, we provide ongoing food support to 12 families, with plans to expand our reach.

Every $30 provides one family with food and essentials for a full month. Just $360 supports a family for an entire year. And because Eiad and Nehal personally cover all administrative costs, 100% of your donation goes directly to families in need.
