A Marathon a Day in May - MAWWFRS Wellbeing Group

Donation protected
The MAWWFRS Voluntary Well-being Group kicks off its inaugural fundraising event this May by asking members of the MAWWFRS family to commit to completing  'Marathon a Day in May', run or walk!

The funds raised will be going towards the creation of 'Well-being Pods', spaces created across the Service area to enable staff to check in on their own mental health and well-being, whether that's a quiet space to reflect or meditate, a space to do some yoga or exercise, or a space to do whatever else they need the space to be, to enable them to switch off and reset.

So this first challenge is that for everyday in May, there will be someone from #teammaww completing a Marathon in an effort to raise funds for 'Well-being Pods'. The rules are they can run or walk it and if they prefer, they can split it up...but it must be recorded and posted, and it needs to be a total of 26.2miles!

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas is the anchor leg committing to completing the challenge on the 31st May whilst the Service's Fitness Team lead and Instructor, Steve Philpott, starts us off on the 1st May.

There are still days available for people wishing to join in......contact Matt Blue of Carmarthen Fire Station or Craig Flannery from Service Headquarters if you want to be involved.

Alternatively, please give generously so we can build these spaces for our staff and their well-being, and help everyone who helps MAWWFRS serve the public.

Updates will be via various Service Social Media Accounts...so stay tuned!

Thank you....... achy legs here we come!
