Hi, my name is Michael Holst, I've been carrying the weight of liver disease since 2011, and in 2019 my liver enzymes were in a bad way and the doctors suspected cancer. However, this is not the case in 2023-2026 due to portal hypertension I have had many procedures done to prevent internal bleeding. More recently I did have internal bleeding in my chest cavity which filled the plueral space and covered my lung, I could not breathe. March 21st, 2026 I went to emergency. 10 days at the hospital with blood transfusions, oxygen and a slowed drainage of that cavity. I can now breathe again and be home with my dog. I live alone and am running deeper in debt as I cannot work and Social Assistance is limited and not enough to live a basic life without any novelties such as streaming packages or a night out with friends. I am overwhelmed, malnourished, and am awaiting a liver transplant that may never come. I lead a clean life of whole food nutrition, no alcohol or drugs. Just unlucky.

In addition, the Toronto General Hospital has informed me that there is no Ontario reimbursement program for travel, accomodation and food for the person having a liver transplant specifically, and this is the reason why I started a gofundme page. The donor is entitled to reimbursement and income replacement.
