Sereinate Henderson was brutally gunned down in Berkeley as she sat in a car with Her mother Salima Wyrick, along with her siblings and precious son.
My name is Jocelyn Foreman I am The Site Coordinator for Family Engagement and Equity currently serving Malcom X Elementary School in Berkeley California where Sereinate, along with extended family of siblings and cousins, attended Elementary School. Sereinate was a former student of Berkeley Schools attending; Emerson, Malcolm X, Longfellow and Berkeley High School.
Sereinate was loved by family, close friends and school communities that wrapped her in love daily. She was a spicy, headstrong, fun loving, and nurturing young woman especially in her new role as mommy. She loved her son. Sereinate was a branch in a tree of family members deeply rooted in the soil of Berkeley. We are asking this community to wrap this family in love and humility. Every donation monetary or tangible is absolutely needed, from very basic needs to future needs, and will help support the family during this tragic time. Support will also allow this family to feel the love of the community surrounding them as they process and heal from this unimaginable tragedy. This is the 5th family member lost during Covid for this family. It is my sincere hope that TOGETHER WE CAN assist this family through this hard time and support them along the pathway to healing. I have set this page to fund the family directly to the point person of this family. We will never be able to understand this senseless loss.
Twanisha Brewer is a close cousin of Salima Warrick, Serenate's mother. With Salima's premission, Twanisha is handling the financial issues and was named the benificiary while Salima focuses on her grieving process. This was done with the explicit consent of Salima. Twanisha has taken on the support of Salima, Sereinate's siblings as they also witnessed the crime, and is assisting in caring for Serinate's young son. Twanisha is also handling all the burial and funeral arrangements.
