A Loving Goodbye to Prettyboy
Donation protected
I’ve always been a lover of horses, ridden and wanted one so bad. Then a friend said he and his buddy were going “across the Bay” to look at a horse he’d seen advertised in the Sunday newspaper (one I’d seen as well). I told him to let me know if I might like him and I’d go the next day to check him out. The next night a woman called and said “so I hear Ronnie bought you a horse!” I couldn’t believe it and she told me all about him. A few days later I was able to get up with Ronnie who told me to go look at him at the Foley Farm, play around with him, however long I wanted to. I did. And I thought, “he’s pretty cute.” I went every day, grooming him, walking him about, cleaning his hooves. For a 2 yr old he was so kind and never tried to kick me. About 3 months later on that Thanksgiving, I gave Ronnie a check for what he’d paid for him. And then I read all I could about training a horse, and listening to all the advice I was given by all the horse people on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
I started training him from the ground up and then got on him and rode him around the pastures, the paddocks and in the round pen. Then my young daughter learned to ride and rode him in local horse shows. It all was the best.
I boarded Prettyboy at many farms and talked one of the caretakers to use him as a lesson horse to help me offset the board, while I was able to be with him when I wanted. And he was perfect with all ages, winning many ribbons for them, all over Virginia and Maryland.
It is now with extreme sadness that I have to let him go. I am heartbroken.
I need a little help with his euthanasia and burial costs.
I am forever grateful for all the wonderful people who came into our lives because of Pretty.❤️
