A Loving Goodbye for Sweet Nico

After 13 years, our sweet boy Nico has made it clear that he is ready to move on. Unfortunately, after living a full and active life, over the last month, his health has taken a terrible turn. He's had hip problems, tumors, breathing problems and GI issues. He's been to the vet ER twice and his primary vet an additional two times in the last 4 weeks.

Over the last 2 weeks he's lost the ability to walk without his back end giving out. We've been assisting him, holding up his back end so he can eat and go potty with his last shed of dignity.

Shirl and I have been trying to make the most of his last days/weeks, but it appears this morning he's letting us know that he is ready. He stopped eating, he won't go potty, and he's struggling to breathe.

We've found Dr. Lindsey Heller at Compassionate Crossing in-home euthanasia. We're hoping to let Nico pass peacefully, at home, surrounded by family. Her fees are:

Euthanasia $450
Private cremation $280
Paw print $35

Normally I would just plan to work a couple shifts of overtime to cover these expenses. But I broke both of my thumbs 2 weeks ago and am unable to return to full duty for a minimum of 6 weeks. That combined with all the ER/vet visits over the last month, we just don't have anything left.

So sorry to ask, but if you have anything to offer to help us raise the $765 needed for this procedure, it would be much appreciated. Thank you and God bless ❤️
