Honoring My Mother’s Memory – A Final Goodbye
With a heavy heart, I share the story of my beloved mother, Da Fua, who was not only my greatest source of strength but also the most selfless and loving person I have ever known.
My mother and I shared a bond that was unbreakable. We came from humble beginnings, growing up in a small village where life was incredibly difficult. She was unemployed, yet she did everything in her power to care for me and my four sisters as a single mother. She sacrificed so much to ensure that we had food to eat, clothes to wear, and above all, hope for a better future.
Despite our struggles, she was determined to see me succeed. She worked tirelessly to support my education, and through her unwavering love and sacrifices, I became the first in my family to attend college, eventually earning both a college degree and a master’s degree. She made sure I lacked nothing, even when she had little herself. She was truly the best mother I could have ever asked for.
After completing my education and securing a job, I was finally able to give back to her. I took care of her needs and even started building her a house in the village. However, in late 2024, her health began to decline.
By November, her condition worsened—her body became swollen, and she could no longer stand or care for herself. The lack of adequate healthcare in our village made it difficult for her to receive an early diagnosis or proper treatment. She fought bravely through December and barely made it into 2025.
In late December, doctors suspected she had congestive heart failure and advised further tests. Unfortunately, the long wait for an appointment delayed her care. She finally managed to get a heart test appointment on January 8, 2025. She was told to return with the results the following Monday.
But she never made it to Monday.
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, my beloved mother passed away, leaving us heartbroken and devastated.
Now, we are faced with the painful task of giving her the dignified farewell she deserves. She was cherished by everyone in our village—a kind, loving, and generous woman who always put others before herself.
As we prepare for her burial in Ghana, the costs are overwhelming. My wife, son, and I need to travel to Ghana to plan and arrange her funeral. In Ghana, funerals are a significant cultural event, and the expenses—including the funeral arrangements and travel costs—are beyond what we can bear alone.
This is why I am humbly reaching out to my friends, loved ones, and kind-hearted supporters to help us give my mother a beautiful and honorable farewell. Your generosity will not only help us lay her to rest but will also ensure that her memory is honored in the way she truly deserves.
Any contribution, no matter how small, means the world to us. This will be a lasting memory that we will cherish forever.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this difficult time. ❤️
