Estimados familiares y amigos:

Dear Family and Friends,

We are reaching out with a humble heart to ask for support for Rubidia Escobar Mejia, a phenomenal Salvadoran woman who recently passed away. Rubidia leaves behind a husband and two sons, ages 16 and 10 years old. Her family is devastated by this loss. Rubidia passed away from cancer on January 27, 2026.

Rubidia initially began her cancer journey 14 years ago, during the same time her son was battling a rare type of cancer when he was just two years old. She carried both burdens with remarkable strength; she kept hope alive for the both of them. Rubidia was truly the warrior mom type, who was determined to beat cancer together. She would always say that her oldest son was a miracle to survive when his prognosis was not good. Thankfully, they both bravely defeated cancer and were fortunate to enjoy several years together cancer-free. He became Deaf due to the chemotherapy he received. Rubidia was his strongest advocate, while he learned how to navigate a world with hearing loss. Later, she became pregnant and had another precious son. Her youngest son was such a happy addition to the family after going through some tough years. Rubidia adored both of her boys with all of her heart. She truly was the center of her boys’ lives and she meant everything to them. Sadly, her cancer returned and more aggressively than before. Once the cancer spread to her liver, her health declined quickly. Her husband and sons remained by her side through her final days. She left this world surrounded by the love of her family who cherished her. Their love and support truly was a reflection of the lives she deeply nurtured.

We are humbly asking for monetary support to cover funeral costs and other general expenses. It is Rubidia’s wish to be buried in El Salvador. All funds will go directly to Rubidia’s husband, giving her the burial and farewell she deserves. Any money left over will remain with her husband who has taken on the role to support her two sons. The family does not have any other family who can support them during this time, so any support you can give would be greatly appreciated.

We pray her sons are watched over as they grow up without their mother. We pray that her boys will always feel the warmth of their mother’s love and strength, even as they face a world without her by their side. We also pray for strength, comfort and peace for her husband as he carries on without his wife. May he always carry on, raising her two sons in the warmth and love their mother always provided.
