We are completely heartbroken to share this news.
On Nov 30th, Sunday evening, at 5:55 pm, Gerardo Sarmiento Mendez, was killed in a hit and run while riding his bike in the neighborhood of Florence-Graham.
His loss has completely shattered our family and left a void that cannot be filled.
Our beloved Gerardo was the definition of a good family man, with a gentle soul and generous heart. Through the good times, and even through the worst of times, he was always looking out for everyone. Whether he was cracking jokes to make us laugh or even offering a helping hand, he had this way of being that had people gravitate towards him.
Not only did he love our mother, he stepped in and loved her kids and grandkids. Without hesitation, he took the responsibility to be our father figure, and with pride. He loved us as his own, guiding us, supporting us, and showing us what a real father’s love looks like. He was the most attentive grandfather/godfather and loved his babies and would have gone to the ends of the earth to make them happy. This truly saddens us because they took the biggest backbone of our family.
No one expects tragedy like this. As we navigate this painful and unexpected loss, we are asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and arrangements so we can lay him to rest in Mexico.
If you are able to contribute, share, or simply keep us in your prayers, we are deeply grateful. Every act of kindness helps us honor Gerardo’s life and carry forward the love he so freely gave.
Thank you for helping us through this while we mourn and remember a man who meant the world to us.
