Help Us Give Corea the Homegoing She Deserves

On behalf of her loving sisters: Tarmeka, Tammie, Nicole, Kia, and Marilyn, we humbly ask for your prayers and support as our family mourns the heartbreaking loss of our beloved Coreatha Irene Powell, affectionately known to so many as “Corea.”

Yesterday, our hearts were shattered when Corea unexpectedly gained her wings after suffering a stroke.

If you knew Corea, then you know she was truly one of a kind. She had a pure heart, was incredibly hardworking, and loved people effortlessly. She never met a stranger and had a smile that could brighten any room. She always had an encouraging word, a positive spirit, and a heart that made everyone feel welcome.

You may have known Corea as your hairstylist, the person you bought clothes, purses, or accessories from, your coworker, your friend, your sister, your aunt, your neighbor, or simply someone whose kindness left a lasting impression on your life. No matter how you knew her, chances are she made you smile, encouraged you, or showed you love without expecting anything in return.

Today, our family is facing an unexpected hardship. Unfortunately, Corea’s life insurance policy had lapsed, leaving us with the overwhelming responsibility of covering her funeral and burial expenses during one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

We are asking, from the depths of our hearts, that if Corea ever touched your life in any way, you would consider giving back to the family she loved so dearly. No donation is too small, and every act of kindness helps us move closer to giving her the beautiful and dignified homegoing celebration she deserves.
