My name is Cecilie, and this is the story of the greatest love I have ever known — and the heartbreaking loss that followed.
Glenn and I met in the most unexpected way. We were both part of a dating program where strangers are matched and married at first sight. As part of the experience, we were left together on a deserted island for two weeks with nothing but each other and the unknown ahead of us.
Somehow, in that unusual beginning, something extraordinary happened.
We fell deeply and truly in love ♥️
From the very start, it felt like we had found what people spend a lifetime searching for — a soulmate. Glenn wasn’t just my partner; he was my best friend, the other part of my soul, my smile, my laughter, my motivation, my safe place, my home. Our love felt easy, natural, and incredibly real. We talked endlessly about the future we wanted to build together — about marriage, children, and a life full of adventures.
For the first three months, everything felt perfect. We were simply two young people who had found each other against all odds. Ready for a whole life ahead of us.
Then our world stopped.
March last year, we found out that Glenn had breast cancer — something very few men in the world are diagnosed with. By the time it was discovered, the cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes, skin, adrenal glands, bones, and later lungs and brain. And once it has spread to the bones, it’s incurable.
The doctors told us Glenn would likely not live more than three years.
He was only 29 years old. This sweet soul and the most kind and real human being on earth, who loved life so so much.
In a single moment, the life we had imagined together disappeared. Our dreams, our future, the family we talked about — everything suddenly felt uncertain and fragile.
But Glenn refused to let cancer define the time we had. And most importantly the love we had.
Instead, he taught me something extraordinary: how to live, even when living a nightmare.
We learned to treasure every single day. We focused on love, presence, laughter, and making memories while we still could. It wasn’t easy. But we never forgot who we fell in love with - and the love we had for each other. Glenn went through an incredibly hard battle, but he never gave up. And despite all, he was the one who was carrying me through it all.
What amazed me most was his spirit.
Even while living with a terminal illness, Glenn remained one of the most positive and life-loving people I have ever known. He cared deeply for others and was always there for people around him — even when he was the one who was sick.
He had the kindest heart and the most beautiful soul.
On January 5th, 2026, Glenn passed away — just 418 days after we first met.
And now, I am here without him.
I have lost the love of my life.
My soulmate. And the future we were supposed to share. I have lost the most important thing in my life.
After Glenn’s passing, I have also lost the life we built together — our car, our apartment, and the stability we once had. I now have to start completely over while carrying the unimaginable grief of losing the person who meant everything to me.
This fundraiser is not about replacing Glenn — nothing ever could!
It is simply about giving me a little support while I try to rebuild my life after losing him. I hope to remove some of the financial weight from my shoulders so I can focus on healing and eventually finding my way back to life again.
Because that was Glenn’s greatest wish for me.
He always wanted me to live, to find happiness again, and to keep moving forward — even if he could no longer walk beside me.
Right now the world feels incredibly heavy, but I hold onto the love Glenn and I shared. It was real, rare, and something I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I really have enough for the rest of my life. That’s how much he loved me ❤️
If you choose to support me, please know that it means more than words can express. And if you cannot donate, simply reading our story and remembering Glenn is already a gift.
I dream of going back to the island where Glenn and I first met and fell in love. And I dream of a new start, with my own apartment and just the basics to carry me lightly through my grief. Something to put a smile on my face so I can slowly learn to see that life is worth living without Glenn.
Thank you for taking the time to hear about our love story.
I hope you live. I hope you laugh. I hope you love. While you still can ♥️
Lots of love from Cecilie.
