Marjorie ‘Bibi’ Weling Ang

She has a gift for inspiring people and for making them feel shamefaced.

Frail and middle-aged, Bibi is a mother of three, wife, and a former co-worker of mine who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

Yet, she chooses to believe in God’s promises and remains optimistic every day.

Bibi’s story goes back to February 2017 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy which ended in November 2017. She then contracted TB for which she received treatment for six months.

In 2019, Bibi got pregnant and gave birth to her and her husband Rey, beautiful baby girl, Elisha Beatrice, on 8 January 2020. It was such a huge blessing, and considered a miracle, having a baby girl after having 2 boys who are now teenagers. This gave Bibi

hope and optimism.

Bibi went on maternity leave for a year and resumed work at a customs HVAC solutions manufacturer in Edmonton in January 2021. In September this year, due to shortness of breath and almost a month of coughing, she’s been rushed to ER and had to go on sick leave.

She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was prescribed a targeted therapy involving five sessions of radiation and oral medications.

Unfortunately, Bibi no longer has health insurance that can cover the cost of her medications. Her husband as her primary care caregiver is currently on Employment Insurance (EI) which is now about to end.

She also bears witness to her Christian faith by giving regular interviews online, inspiring multitudes of viewers in the process.

With her steely determination, Bibi chooses to remain hopeful everyday.

Like our powerless superhero, we are choosing to live each day in faith over fear.

Let us all be part of Bibi and baby Bea's journey. Let us show Bibi our kindness and always choose to help anyone in need despite having their own battles. As for baby Bea, let us give her the chance to enjoy her mom's presence, kisses, hugs, laughter, and most of all her mom's LOVE!
