On August 8th, our lives changed forever.
Our son, Azriel, was the victim of child abuse and suffered a traumatic brain injury that doctors told us he would not survive. The doctors determined it was a severe case of shaken baby syndrome. One of the worst they had ever seen. We were told he only had hours to live. In those moments, our world stopped — and we began preparing for the unimaginable.
But God had other plans for him.
As many of you know, he has undergone seven brain surgeries and fought harder than anyone we’ve ever known. He was transferred to Austin for advanced care, where doctors delivered more devastating news: Azriel is fully blind, and over half of his brain had to be removed to save his life.
We were told to prepare for the worst.
They said he would never move.
They said he would never eat on his own.
They said he would never communicate.
They said he would live in a vegetative state.
But our son is a miracle.
Because of the incredible power of neuroplasticity and his unstoppable spirit, Azriel has already begun proving everyone wrong. He has regained control of his left side and has started working on his right side. Every tiny movement is a victory. Every milestone is a reminder that he is still here, still fighting, and still surprising us every single day.
We now know that the first six months after a traumatic brain injury are the most critical window for recovery. This is the time when the brain can make the greatest progress — when therapy can change the course of a survivor’s future.
And our son has been given an incredible opportunity.
He has been accepted into NAPA, an intensive therapy program that could dramatically improve his ability to move, eat, communicate, and maybe one day even walk. This therapy gives him the best chance to build independence and quality of life.
But there is one heartbreaking obstacle.
Insurance will not cover it.
Our family is doing everything we can, but the cost of this life-changing therapy is far beyond what we can afford alone.
We are asking for help because time matters.
We cannot miss this window.
We cannot miss this chance.
Every donation, every share, and every prayer brings Azriel one step closer to the future he deserves.
We truly believe he is here for a very special reason. He has already overcome what seemed impossible. Now we are asking for help to give him the chance to keep going and maximize his recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our miracle boy and for being part of his journey.
