Zuma, my Chesapeake Bay Retriever, was my constant companion for almost four years. Three weeks ago, he ran away, and despite my best efforts posting on NextDoor and searching everywhere; I couldn't find him. This past Sunday, my search ended in heartbreak when I found him on the shoulder of Hwy 80 in Vallejo. He had been hit by a car, likely at night. The loss has been overwhelming, and I have never experienced such grief in my life.
Zuma and I were inseparable. He brought so much joy and comfort to my days. I had always planned for him to outlive me, even arranging for Chesapeake Bay Retriever Rescue to find him a loving home if needed. He was loved not just by me, but by many. When I shared a video of him 'dancing' with me, it received over 80 comments and was viewed more than 5,200 times. His spirit touched so many in our community.
I am seeking help to cover the costs of his cremation and to plant two double flowering cherry trees at a local park, where Zuma loved to fetch his ChuckIt balls. As a senior whose only income is social security, your support would mean the world to me. Together, we can create a living memorial that the community can enjoy each Spring, honoring the special bond Zuma and I shared. Any contribution, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated.
