A Little Light for Little Hearts: An Advent Appeal for the Missionaries of the Poor – Little Lamb Center (LILAC): Let Love Be Their Christmas

As the season of Advent begins and the journey toward Christmas gently unfolds, we are invited once more into a time of reflection, hope, and love. In Cebu, where so many have faced challenges and hardships this year, the light of hope becomes even more precious. And yet—through faith, compassion, and shared kindness—this light can shine brighter than ever.

Today, I humbly appeal to your generous hearts for the children of the Missionaries of the Poor – Little Lamb Center (LILAC).

This Advent, may we become bearers of hope, peace, joy, and love for these little ones—children who deserve to feel cherished, remembered, and embraced with the warmth of Christmas.

At Little Lamb, every child is a reminder of God’s tenderness.

Many of them live with multiple disabilities—cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, physical and cognitive challenges—yet each one has a beautiful soul longing for affection, dignity, and care. LILAC is the first and only permanent residential home in Cebu dedicated exclusively to children with these complex needs. Since its opening in 2006, the Missionaries of the Poor have lovingly provided a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled home to the most vulnerable… to those the world often overlooks.

His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal once praised LILAC as a true expression of the Church’s preferential love for the poor—and that mission continues each day through the hands of the brothers, volunteers, and supporters like you.

This year, we hope to provide the children with essential supplies—vitamins, nourishing food, sanitary items, wipes, and basic daily needs that help ensure their health, comfort, and well-being. These are small things to us, but life-changing for them.

We have been supporting MOP–LILAC since January 2013.

Now, in our twelfth year of this humble mission of love, we once again knock gently on your hearts.

If you can spare a little kindness, if you feel a spark of compassion, if you want to make a difference—please consider sharing your blessing with these beautiful children.

Your generosity will help them welcome Christmas not with scarcity, but with comfort… not with worry, but with joy… not with loneliness, but with the certainty that they are loved.
