Hi, my name is Joanna and I’m helping fundraise for my Ate Carmie’s Nanay in Cebu. She was rushed to the hospital about a month ago due to heart failure, and only 21% of her heart is working. She’s also dealing with diabetes, which makes everything even harder. As we all know, medical costs in the Philippines can get overwhelming really quickly, and after a month in the hospital, their bill has already reached around ₱600,000. Ate Carmie has completely used up her savings and is really struggling to keep her Nanay in the hospital.

I met Ate Carmie while travelling in Carnarvon back in 2015, and we’ve been friends ever since. She’s been with me through so many moments in my life and has helped me more than I can explain. Some of you may know her too — she’s the kind of person who’s always ready to help, give, and support others without hesitation. Now that she’s the one going through something so difficult, I want to give back by reaching out and asking for help to ease the stress of their growing hospital bills.

On top of everything with Nanay, her brother also recently underwent gallbladder surgery, which adds another ₱100,000 to their expenses.
