A Little Help For Gus Gus

Our sweet Gus, one of our Tennessee Hollow sanctuary bunnies, broke his arm in a freak accident this week. Tuesday morning, Gus eagerly ran to take a treat, and somehow managed to step in his small pellet bowl in a way that flipped it up hard into his arm, causing it to break.

Due to his age and the location of the break, he will be getting an amputation. He is scheduled for surgery on Monday, Jan 13. Hillsboro Animal Hospital quoted that it would be around $900 for the surgery.

Gus has been with us since September of 2020 when he was rescued from outside after being attacked by dogs. It took him a long time to trust people, once he trusted us we let him stay in sanctuary. He has already been through so much in his life, so we decided to be his forever family.

It has been a while since I have reached out to ask for financial help for the bunnies, but unfortunately, we have had a tough year. In March of last year, I (Alexa) was laid off from my job as a graphic designer. After a couple of months of job searching, I decided to enroll back in school for UX/UI design.

While working through my coursework and applying for jobs, we were also taking care of Sammy as she battled cancer. We have all our bunnies on pet insurance, and we normally use CareCredit for emergencies. But we maxed out both the CareCredit and the insurance reimbursements with Sammy's treatments.

So I am reaching out to ask for a little help for Gus Gus.

If, for some reason, we exceed our goal, or if the surgery is less than what was quoted/raised, those extra funds will be used for supplies for Gus as he heals and adapts.
