Hi, my name is Crystal Floyd, and I’m the founder of Pathways to Home, Inc. in Tampa, Florida.

I’m creating this GoFundMe because I’m tired — not of the mission — but of watching the same group of people get overlooked again and again:

The working class. The people who are always “almost” okay, but never quite have enough.

They tell us:

“Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.”

“Work harder.”

“Just save.”

“Be grateful.”

But what they don’t say is how hard it is to save when life keeps hitting you back-to-back:

a layoff

a health issue

rent increases

car repairs

childcare

groceries that cost more every single week

And even when people do everything “right,” there’s still that wall:

The lump sum.

Down payment. Closing costs. Surprise fees.

And if credit needs work? That’s another obstacle that makes people feel like they don’t even deserve a chance.

It becomes a rat race — and people get stuck in it for years.

And what makes me the most upset is this:

These are the very people who need help the most — and society pays them no mind.

But WE are America.

Not just a hashtag. Not just a talking point.

We’re the workers, the caregivers, the parents, the teachers, the hospital staff, the everyday people who keep everything running… and still can’t get ahead.

That’s why I started Pathways to Home.

This nonprofit exists to help working families become homeowners by providing:

down payment and closing cost support (when funding is available),

guidance and resources to become mortgage-ready,

and a real pathway to stability instead of endless renting.

Why I’m raising $1,000 right now

I’m raising $1,000 to put our message on TV.

I already paid out of pocket to create a professional 30-second commercial because I believed in this mission that much — but now I need $1,000 upfront to secure the airtime and move forward.

If we raise this, the commercial can run for 3 consecutive months, which is exactly what we need to reach the people who feel invisible and to bring donors and partners to the table.
