Hi everyone

As a mom, there are moments that stop you in your tracks… and this is one of them.

My son Aden, the little big brother with a heart of gold, decided on his own to sell his toys at our community yard sale so he could buy Legos for his big brother, Damian. Damian is 12, autistic, and will be having double foot surgery this June.

What started as a simple act of love for his brother has turned into something so much bigger than we ever expected. Seeing others recognize Aden’s kindness has meant more to me than I can put into words.

Damian loves building Legos and playing video games. It’s something the boys enjoy doing together indoors. With recovery ahead, those moments will become even more important while Damian heals. Aden loves getting his big brother outside, so knowing that time will be limited is what sparked his desire to buy him something he loves to do inside.

For those who have asked, Damian’s surgery is due to extra bones in his feet that are affecting his growth and balance, leading to more frequent falls and injuries. We are hopeful this will improve his quality of life.

Anything raised will go toward supporting Damian during recovery and helping make that time a little easier for our family, including post-recovery items and activities the boys can continue to enjoy together. As autism comes with its own challenges, I’m grateful to also be his IHSS provider, so I’ll be by his side every step of the way.

This all started as one little brother simply wanting to show up for his best friend—his brother. We truly weren’t asking for anything, just selling his toys, but so many of you have reached out wanting to help. The kindness shown to my boys is overwhelmingly beautiful. It reinforces everything I’m teaching them about being loving and kind. So, as a mom raising boys—thank you
