A little bit of comfort for Mowgli

Donation protected
In the past week everything I have come to know about my life has changed.

4.5 years ago I found Mowgli on a Facebook group. He was everything my life needed. I was working as a Dog Walker at the time and I brought him to work with me 5 days a week. For the first while he was much too tiny to hike for 2 hours so I go him a carrier (yes...a baby carrier). He would let me know when he was tired and I would carry him the rest of the time. We hiked like this until he was too big and heavy for me.

He was the perfect puppy. And he grew up into the most loveable dog. He has been spoiled with love, a great raw food diet and endless exercise and adventures.

He's lived in Vancouver, Kelowna, Christina Lake, traveled across Canada and back and now we are settled in Powell River. He has friends scattered throughout the country!

He is my adventure partner. We've hiked forests all over BC, climbed mountains, caught sunsets and sunrises. He's my first interaction every morning and my snuggle buddy/bed hog at night.

Over the past 3 weeks Mowgs started to look a little thin, so I increased his food. Then he started panting heavily when resting, breathing way too fast while sleeping, and he was much slower on our walks.
I booked him into the Vet. We did blood and urine and found nothing. So we scheduled an Xray. However 3 days before the Xray he started limping and woke up crying in pain. I brought him into the Vet early. I won't ever forget the look on his face as he looked at Mowgli and listened to me describe the few days since I'd seen him...that look told me everything I would need to know.
The Xray revealed Mowgs had a large mass in his chest. It was pushing on his trachea and esophagus..causing distress to his lungs. It was attacking the essence of him. The very soul of him.
The next day he went in to have fine needle aspiration done so a sample could be sent to the lab.
In the 2 days of waiting he has gotten slower, stiffer and more hesitant to climb on and off the bed or couch..or up and down the stairs.
We finally recieved the results...even though I already knew them. My hands could feel all of the lumps and bumps that were foreign in his body.
At 4.5 years old Mowgli has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.
It is not surgically removable.
I only have 2 options.
Chemo or Palliative Care.
Personally I wouldn't want to go through chemo myself..endless hospital visits, countless needles and medication that is incredibly toxic and dangerous. I can't do that to my boy..not that face. It would break me even more to watch him suffer through it. And I don't believe it would result in a worthwhile amount of time with a great quality of life.
So we have chosen Palliative Care.
Which means Mowgs has been started on medication to help with comfort. In hopes of slowing the growth and possibly shrinking the mass so he can breath easier...rest easier..maybe even adventure a little more.
I am hoping to raise any amount of financial support for my boy to help with his vet bills up to this point as well as the ones that will come up when he reaches the end of his beautiful life. It will also help to feed Mowgs the best food and take the best natural supplements!
Any small gesture would be appreciated.
I know times have been challenging for every one. Lay offs and reduced hours. I, myself have been laid off since May for the most part. So I understand if all you are able to donate is kind words and love. Both of those go a long way for us as well!!!
Anything that goes beyond covering the vet bills I will be putting towards being able to spend more time with him over the next coming months so that I can keep him comfortable and happy throughout his remaining days. It will allow me to take time off from any work that comes up without stressing about my personal bills and necessities.
I just want to be able to spend everything single 1 of his last days with him. And I'm hoping the medication will help him enough so we can adventure just 1 more time.
If you got to spend time with Mowgli at some point of his wonderful life he will be forever grateful for the snuggles, cuddles and play you gave him! Every person that came through his life added so much joy and love to his heart! I am grateful for your presence!

I will be making magnets with Mowgli's paw print on it for anyone who is able to donate! If you wish to remain anonymous you can always send me a private message and I will be sure to get the tiny gesture of our love and gratitude to you
