A little Austin Baby

Hi everyone! This is a tough pill to swallow. We’ve debated on whether or not to set up a Go Fund Me account. There’s a story behind this, so thanks for reading! ♥️

Our names are Rodney and Michelle Austin. We’re high school sweethearts. We've been in a relationship together for 10 years, and have been married for almost 4. We work together at the same car dealership where Rodney works in the Service Department as a Service Advisor, and I've held positions in just about every department. We have been actively trying to conceive since we got married.

Rodney is an insulin dependent Type 1 Diabetic. He was diagnosed when he was only 8 years old. Now at the age of 28, Rodney has taken insulin everyday since. This has caused his counts to be below average. This is the main reason we aren't able to get pregnant according to our doctors.

We have tried Intrauterine Insemination 3 separate times and were unsuccessful. As discouraging as it was, we took some time to relax, not stress about it, and to let things happen on their own. Until you've been through infertility, no one knows the emotions and the stresses we feel while struggling to start our little family. When we get news of other friends and family getting pregnant around us, it brings joy to our hearts that they are able to do so. Deep down, it's a bit painful to digest.

In February of last year, my mom, three sisters and I bought tickets to Route 91 in Las Vegas. We made it a tradition to celebrate my birthday with a 3-day Country Music Festival. What we didn’t know, was that on that night our lives would change forever. Here we were, enjoying Jason Aldean live one minute, then running for our lives the next. Thank God we stuck together and were able to get away physically unharmed. The mental effects are still healing and probably will never go away.

The tragic event has opened our eyes to realizing that life is too short and tomorrow is never promised. You can only imagine what was going through Rodney's mind when he heard the news about the shooting. He stayed up all night not knowing whether or not he would ever see me, or my mom and sisters ever again. If we learned anything from going through this tragic event, it taught us that we shouldn't take life for granted, and to go for what we want in life. What we want most is to start our own little family.

Because of the 3 failed failed IUI (Inter-uterine Insemination) attempts we decided to see a doctor that specializes in IVF (In-Vetro Fertilization). After meeting with the doctor we received some great news!! He said that with the counts Rodney has there should be no reason why we shouldn't get pregnant. However, the financial consultant then gave us the bad news. It's going to cost us $15,000. Unfortunately insurance doesn’t cover any of it. We have stressed and stressed about how we are going to pay for it. We are currently applying for grants and financial assistance with very little luck.

If you know us, something we really do not do is ask for help. Please understand the magnitude of what we are asking and know that we wouldn’t ask if we thought there was any other way. Anything helps.

If you have read this far thank you so much. Thank you for your prayers and donations. We appreciate it more than you will ever know. ♥️

Love,

Michelle and Rodney
