Over a ten-day span last June, six students and three teachers from École Duperré , one of Paris’ most prominent applied arts universities, visited Yerevan for a workshop at TUMO Studios . Students from Duperré were paired with students from TUMO Studios, forming six groups that experimented with fashion with an emphasis on local Armenian know-how and traditions.
And this past June, three of the TUMO Studios students that participated in that workshop, Mariam Emexizyan, Sona Hambardzumyan, and Lily Mehrabyan, were given the chance of a lifetime, discovering that they had each been selected to study for 2 semesters in Paris at École Duperré, tuition-free, beginning in September.
We’re so happy that Mariam, Sona, and Lily can explore and pursue their creative passions as they work towards a future in design. Yet while they don’t need to worry about any university expenses, Paris is an expensive city to live in and navigate. As such, we’re asking for your support to help Mariam, Sona, and Lily with their accommodations and living expenses, allowing them to devote all of their attention to their creative pursuits as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.
While this is a big accomplishment for these three students, TUMO Studios and the entire creative industry in Armenia stands to benefit from the new skills that Mariam, Sona and Lily will bring with them when they return to Armenia, passing on their experiences to a whole new generation of TUMO Studios students through a series of ateliers, in addition to designing an exclusive new collection for TUMO Studios.
“We strongly believe that the knowledge and experience that they will receive in this coming year will be a great asset not only for them, but for TUMO Studios and Armenia’s creative industries as a whole, as Lily, Mariam and Sona will return to share their experiences with their peers and contribute to the development of fashion design in Armenia,” says Maral Mikirditsian, Head of TUMO Studios.
Any contribution you make will be greatly appreciated by our three students and by the entire TUMO Studios community.
