A Lifeline for Afghanistan's Earthquake Survivors

My name is Sima Ahmadi. I am an international student from a minority community in the Herat province of Afghanistan pursuing my Ph.D. degree at Kent State University in the USA. You may have heard about the recent earthquake in Afghanistan. A powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the western region of the country (Herat) on October 7th, and many consecutive aftershocks continued for the next three weeks, deepening the struggles of the resilient people there. My family, friends, and relatives were severely affected, and they lost their homes. All the homes collapsed. It is about three weeks that they live under the tent in the cold weather.

More than 2,400 people lost their lives in this devastating event, including many young children. A catastrophic earthquake left over 1,000 injured and 1,320 homes in ruins, leaving families struggling to rebuild. Numerous families have been displaced due to the widespread destruction, and they are in need of shelter and basic necessities.

My immediate goal is to provide critical support to the most vulnerable survivors as much as I can. The funds raised will be utilized to procure essential supplies, including medical aid, food provisions, blankets, and temporary shelter, for those left reeling from the disaster. Your small donation can make a tangible difference in providing essential relief and instilling hope in the hearts of those who have lost so much.
I will send your donated money to Afghanistan, and in a transparent process, it will be distributed to the most vulnerable people in Khashrod, KhajaSarbour, and Jebrael villages of Herat.
