On Saturday, August 17th, Angie Leake’s life was forever changed when she suffered a massive heart attack at home with her son. Madison County EMS responded swiftly to her youngest son's 911 call and provided exceptional care. Recognizing the severity of her condition, they made the critical decision to airlift her to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, instead of transporting her by ambulance.

At UVA, doctors quickly took action. After an initial cardiac catheterization procedure proved unsuccessful due to severe blockages, Angie underwent an emergency Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) on Sunday. Surgeons bypassed the blockages in her heart using a vein from elsewhere in her body. Angie is now recovering in UVA’s Cardiovascular ICU, where she will likely remain for 1-2 weeks.

As one can imagine, the hospital bills have already started accumulating and will continue to do so during her recovery. A medical air lift alone costs $40,000, plus an ICU stay and multiple procedures and around the clock monitoring will pose similar bills. Additionally, as Angie focuses on healing, she is unable to work, which means her rent, bills, and support for her youngest son remain pressing financial concerns.
