While traveling in Brazil during the Christmas holiday, my father Kelvin Hill was admitted in the ICU on January 6th and diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome. This rare condition causes the immune system to attack the nerves and was triggered by a mosquito bite. He suffered full body paralysis, was unable to breathe on his own, eat or talk. Although my father was getting better, he passed away suddenly on March 6th, due to medical complications. My father was loved by so many, his free spirited nature, charismatic energy and ability to make connections through laughter and words of wisdom made a positive impact on everyone he encountered! My father died while visiting the place he loved the most, Rio De Janiero and was a man well traveled! He will truly be missed!! To honor my father, I have created this GoFundMe page to ask all those who know my dad for any support you can provide to offset his out of pocket medical expenses while receiving care in Brazil and any additional expenses required to ensure he has a proper Homegoing ceremony.
