Remembering My Daughter Lanaya: A Mother’s Heart, A Call to End Bullying

Hello, my name is Lynette, the mother of 14-year-old Lanaya Krank, a freshman at Cajon High School in San Bernardino.

On October 18, 2024, I laid my beautiful baby girl to rest. No mother should ever have to experience the pain of losing their child — especially to something as cruel and preventable as bullying.

Ever since elementary school, Lanaya was targeted and bullied. When she was only in the 6th grade, some of her classmates even encouraged her to take her own life. The emotional wounds from that cruelty never fully healed. The bullying followed her from middle school into high school — a pain she carried quietly, with a brave smile that hid her suffering.

Despite everything she faced, Lanaya was bright, loving, and full of potential. She loved music, laughter, and helping others. But the cruelty and pressure from constant bullying became too heavy, and my daughter’s young life ended far too soon.

As we approach the one-year anniversary of Lanaya’s passing, I am organizing a Candlelight Vigil and Balloon Release in her memory. I want this day not only to honor her life but also to raise awareness about bullying — and to make sure that no other child suffers the way Lanaya did.

I have also created a GoFundMe to help cover the remaining expenses from last year and to fund the Anti-Bullying Campaign I am starting in her name. This campaign will bring parents, students, and schools together to speak up, intervene, and protect children before it’s too late.

Every donation, every share, and every prayer means more to me than words can express. Together, we can turn this tragedy into a movement for change — so that Lanaya’s light continues to shine and inspire others to stand against bullying.
