A Life Rebuilt: Supporting Silvia & O's Move to Spain
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Agostina.
I'm organising this fundraiser for my dear friend Silvia and her son O. Silvia and I met online on dear old Twitter a decade and a half ago, and she has become very dear to me.
After almost 12 years of building a life in the UK, Silvia is now facing a heartbreaking crossroads — and needs our support to take the next step safely.
A year ago, Silvia’s world was turned upside down by a devastating heartbreak that blindsided her and changed everything. Since then, she’s done everything in her power to hold things together for herself and for O. But life has become unsustainable.
With no family support for childcare, working isn’t possible — and now, under tightening rules on government helps, Silvia is being told to find a job or risk losing her benefits. Either way, there simply isn’t enough to survive. After giving everything she had to make life here work, she now has no choice but to return to Spain, where family can help her and O rebuild some stability.
This is not what Silvia wanted. Her dream has always been to raise her son here in the UK, where she has lived and worked for more than a decade. Leaving is painful and deeply emotional — but survival has to come first.
We’re raising money to help cover essential moving costs, including:
✈️ Flights for Silvia and O (two one-way tickets)
Extra luggage (two large suitcases for essentials)
Shipping for a small table, chairs, a child’s high chair, a bed, and around 10 boxes (books, toys, kitchenware)
We’re aiming to raise £2,000 to cover the basics and allow them to move with safety and dignity.
Every donation — no matter how small — will make a real difference. And if you can’t donate, please share this page with others who might be able to help.
Silvia is an incredibly strong, loving mother — and one of the most determined people I know. Let’s help her and little O take this next step with hope and support at their backs.
With all my gratitude,
Agostina
