My name is Jaclyn Lord, and for nearly 20 years, I’ve devoted my life to caring for children with special needs. It was never just a job—it was my heart’s purpose. I found deep joy in being a calming presence for those who needed extra love and patience.
But in early 2024, my life changed in a way I never imagined.
During a behavioral crisis at work, I was physically harmed by a student. I was later hospitalized at The Brook for 12 days and diagnosed with severe PTSD. Along with the emotional trauma, I suffered a physical injury that I still haven’t fully recovered from—and I’m currently awaiting surgery, which unfortunately is not covered by insurance due to previous implants.
Shortly after, I began experiencing serious health symptoms: fatigue, blurry vision, headaches, and multiple episodes of passing out. Testing revealed that I have heart disease and atherosclerosis, with a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score of 892, and blockages as high as 55% in my right carotid artery.
My ejection fraction is down to 45%, which could indicate the early stages of heart failure. I’m scheduled for an echocardiogram, and a brain MRI is being done to explore the cause of my vision changes and fainting spells.
While my insurance thankfully covers most of my medical care, the surgery for my injury isn’t covered, and I’ve now been out of work for over 15 months. With no income, I’m struggling to keep up with my mortgage, bills, and car repairs—and every day has become a fight to just stay afloat.
I’ve never been someone who asked for help. I’ve always worked multiple jobs to provide for my family and give my all to others. But today, I find myself humbly asking for support.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply send a prayer, please know it means more than words can say. Every act of kindness brings hope and healing into my life—and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Thank you for seeing me. Thank you for standing with me.
With love and gratitude,
Jaclyn Lord
