A life lost too soon…. Summer Memorial
I am writing on behalf of the Mills/McKellar family,
On Saturday, July 17th, 2021, Summer unexpectedly passed away. She was only 22 years old and was working on becoming an EMT. Summer served time in the Military Police Reserves, has always worked in a field of helping people in need, and was very close to her family. Summer was hard working, funny, quiet, calm, artistic, and was a great friend and coworker. She loved her dog Dixie and her lizard Thor. Summer’s friends talk about her being a bad ass, telling good stories about her adventures as a security guard in the psychiatric hospital, being there for them to talk to, singing in the car, living life with no regrets, a contagious laugh, unique, kind, a beautiful smile, goofy, and calm.
Summer was taken too soon and unexpectedly. She lived with her Sister Lexi, her Mom Wendy, Step Dad Andy, and her dog Dixie and other family dogs. She was also close to her “Auntie Ten” and Uncle Mike who reside in Arizona. Kristen “Auntie Ten” talks about all the memories with Summer and how lucky she was to get to spend vacation weeks with Summer. Auntie Ten also talks about staying in touch through lots of snap chat videos and conversations. Summer’s Uncle Mike speaks of her sense of humor, snap chats, her calm and quiet state, and all the fun memories. Summer was also very close to her Grandparents Mike and Jo Mills. They have many great memories of Summer staying with them in their house in Wisconsin and then in Arizona.
The family is truly devastated and Summer will always be in their hearts.
There has been a huge outpouring of support for the family and many people are asking how they can help. With that being said, I am giving people an option to donate to the family, give a donation in Summer’s name to Wisconsin Injured Law Enforcement Officers Resource Council or the Humane Society of Waukesha.
Thank you for all your support, calls, texts, and messages. They truly help during this time of pure heart break.
